Andrew Wiltse

Andrew Wiltse walked into Heath Pedigo's Mount Vernon, Illinois academy in 2013 as a white belt and quickly became one of the faces of what would grow into one of no-gi grappling's most talked-about training camps, known widely by the nickname of its building's former occupant, Daisy Fresh Laundromat. Training day in and day out inside that small-town gym, Wiltse developed a physical, high-output style built for the demands of modern no-gi competition.

His rise through the colored belts was rapid. At blue belt in 2015 he swept gold at the IBJJF World Championship, the World Championship No-Gi, and the Pan Championship, then returned to add a second Pan title in 2016. He kept climbing through purple belt, winning the 2017 IBJJF World No-Gi Championship and finishing runner-up in the gi World final that same year, before adding brown belt titles at the 2019 IBJJF World No-Gi Championship and Pan No-Gi Championship.

Heath Pedigo promoted Wiltse to black belt in December 2019, and he carried his momentum straight into the sport's toughest division, winning the IBJJF Pan No-Gi Championship in 2020 and finishing as runner-up the following year. Those results cemented him as one of the more feared black belt no-gi competitors to come out of a small, independent academy rather than one of the sport's traditional powerhouse teams.

In recent years Wiltse has been open about stepping back from a full competitive schedule to focus on his health, using the time to teach and build a following as a content creator. By 2026 he had relocated to Kearney, Nebraska, where he began teaching alongside Justin Weaver and is co-founding a new academy, Wiltse Brothers BJJ, alongside Weaver and Bird Wiltse.

Though his competitive frequency has slowed from his peak years at Daisy Fresh, Wiltse remains connected to the sport as a coach and continues to speak publicly about both his jiu-jitsu career and his broader journey, positioning his next chapter around building his own academy rather than chasing another individual title.
